It is the first private International gateway (IGW) Operators of Bangladesh and came into operation on 21st August 2008 after being awarded the IGW license by the Government.

Carrying voice traffic around the clock is what Mir telecom does. It passes the originating and terminating international voice traffic to the overseas Carriers in the upstream and the Mobile & Fixed line Operators in the downstream. It has direct bilateral connections through submarine cable and ITC with majority of countries of the world. By this it supports A-Z voice termination to almost all destinations of the world on both TDM and IP media. The revenue earned through it is 100% in foreign exchange and so it is also a big foreign exchange earner of the country.

It is preparing to offer international SMS (short message service) very shortly as per directive of BTRC and planning to introduce MMS (multimedia service) next time.
